V0.4 RELEASE - The Big Balance Update


0.4 is here!

In this update there were the usual additions along with a slew of changes. These were made mostly for balance reasons, changing up the game's economy and such, but a good deal were made to 'focus' the game, if that makes sense.
These sorts of changes included giving bosses a wider range of abilities, making them more engaging. Roach numbers were also heavily increased so that the player would feel the need to make use of everything at their disposal.
A list of changes can be found in its own post and in the zip file for the game, though I've no doubt missed a few things. One off the top of my head is the fact that Roach sprites are around twice as big, so that they are easier to spot.

So what's next? Well I've already got a few big goals for v0.5; music and sound, plus better path finding. The game has been without audio for far too long and it's about time that changed. I think that given the size of 0.4 and the time between releases, I felt I couldn't delay it for the sake of sound, it would be better to make that it's own update. I'll need a bit of time to really nail down what sort of sound I want to define Roach Exterminator, but I already have a YouTube playlist with a couple of tracks in it. As for the path finding, it's currently just sort of bad. This is particularly evident with the bosses, who don't feel nearly as intimidating when they're spinning around in a corner (I'm looking at you, Rampager). 

That's about all I have to say for now. I'm very proud to have another update done, and keen to take a short break before jumping back into it. I do have a very clear image of what I want for 1.0, obviously just completing all the levels and unlocks and such, along with at least two new game modes. Beyond that? Well... I have ideas, but that's for the far future.
